Shakti Sadan is a centrally sponsored scheme of Ministry of Women and Child Development Govt. of India, where 60% fund supported by Govt. of India and 40% fund supported by Govt. of Odisha. Previously the scheme was known as Swadhar Greh. Government of India has launched 'Mission Shakti' - an integrated women empowerment program as an umbrella scheme for the safety, security and empowerment of women for implementation during the 15'th Finance Commission period 2O21-22 to 2025-26 and the scheme name has been changed to Shakti Sadan
The primary objective of Shakti Sadan is to provide comprehensive support and rehabilitation services for women in distressful situations, including those who are victims of trafficking or violence.
It aims to create a safe and enabling environment for these women, offering them shelter, food, clothing, counselling, and other essential needs. Shakti Sadan also focuses on empowering women by providing them with vocational training, access to banking services, and social security benefits.
