Taking Flight with UDAAN – Empowering Adolescent Girls for a Brighter Future

SEHADA (Socio Economic Health and Agricultural Development Association) has initiated a project titled UDAAN – Empowering Adolescent Girls for a Brighter Future from 1st July 2025, with the support of the Azim Premji Foundation, Bhubaneswar.

To empower 750 adolescent girls to develop leadership skills, take collective action, and break the cycle of marginalization across 20 villages in 3 Gram Panchayats of Kirmira Block, Jharsuguda.

  • Collectivization & Leadership:

  • Formation of adolescent girls’ groups and nurturing peer leaders to build solidarity and voice.

  • Awareness & Rights Education:

  • Enhancing knowledge on health, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, gender equality, and legal rights.

  • Skill Development & Confidence Building:

  • Equipping girls with life skills, career counselling, and decision-making abilities to strengthen their agency.

  • Community Engagement :

  • Mobilizing families, schools, and community stakeholders to create an enabling and supportive environment for adolescent girls.

Target Group

  • Adolescent girls in the age group of 12–18 years.

    • Project Location

  • The project is being implemented in Sulehi, Bhimjore, and Jharmunda Gram Panchayats of Kirmira Block, Jharsuguda district, Odisha.
